“小印度”顾名思义，指的就是印度的缩影。之所以称其为“小印度”，主要是因为它坐落在新加坡中南部的实龙岗路，是许多印度人聚集的地方。
　　一进入小印度，一股浓烈的辣椒气味就会扑面而来。商店里陈列着银器、铜器、具有民族特色的珠宝、茉莉花环和丝制莎丽。无论在庞大的竹脚（Zhu Jiao）中心。还是在小杂货铺中，各种有趣的东西等着您去探索。在屠妖节（Deepavali），即兴都教光节（Hindu Festival of Lights），小印度（Little India）装点成金碧辉煌的神话世界，到处是前来购物的人们。

-China Town + Sentosa trip,牛車水＋聖淘沙 一日遊

牛車水，位於新加坡河西南方，是自1821年逐漸形成的。當時，從福建廈門南下的第一艘平底中國帆船抵達新加坡。船上青一色是男性。他們就在新加坡河以南一帶(也就是現在的直落亞逸街)定居。當時，在那兒的每家每戶都得拉牛車到安祥山的史必靈路取水。久而久之，該地方就被稱為牛車水了。 

牛車水可劃分為牛車路、直落亞逸街、丹戎巴葛和武吉巴梳路四個不同風格的小區。丁加奴街/史密斯街則是牛車水的主要活動中心。舉凡中國古董、各式草藥、乾貨雜糧、藥油、傳統糕餅以及肉乾等，牛車水應有盡有，多半都集中在馬里安興都廟周遭。值得一提的是，牛車水並不是清一色華人居住的地方。牛車水內，沿著亞逸街，就可以看到福德祠、應和館，分別代表華人移民不同時期的歷史。往南行，Nagore Durgha Shrine 回教寺院、天福宮(Thian Hock keng Temple)以及阿布拉回教堂(Al-Abrar Mosque)等等，一一出現在眼前，在同條街道上看見不同宗教的廟宇，是當地的奇特景觀，說明新加坡對宗教的兼容並蓄，也見證了新加坡多元種族和睦相處的一面。
